July 2019 - Everything but the girl

Updated: Jan 9, 2020

It is almost 3 weeks since my last update and I am only a little further forward. My marketing man persona still hasn't arrived yet but I did manage to watch a lot of Wimbledon and the Cricket World Cup, so my time has not been wasted.

I have reached the stage where I have until tomorrow to make any final amendments to my manuscript. I checked through the latest updated manuscript a while ago and made some changes. I then sent out individual book sections (basically separated into the 7 individual journeys) to friends for checking. Of those sections, it is just Namibia that remains to be returned. The difficulty is that my wife is checking that one and she hasn't got past the fourth page yet. While other people are fascinated by my travel diaries and chuckle away, she will simply look up and tell me that I'm not funny. Now, I don't claim to be hilarious, but try to aim to be somewhere near the amusing category. It is times like this that I get concerned that if it is not my sense of humour, that she likes about me, I wonder what it is (as I am certain it can not be my good looks, intelligence, wealth, charisma, muscles etc.). I'm really interested to know but frightened to ask - what if it prompts her to wonder as well? I think , therefore, that it is best if we just live in blissful ignorance.

Anyway, next week my requested amendments should be made by the publishers and two weeks later I should receive the first proper book version of my manuscript. There is then a four week period for me to read the book and request any 'last' final amendments before the expected publishing date of about the 9th September (ish). Hopefully in the next post I will have exciting marketing news!
